I take great pleasure in the various options that clay/ ’mud’ offers me. From the creation of handbuilt sculptural forms to wheel thrown functional tableware, firing low fire oxidation, to the random nature of sawdust fire, or the unpredictable flame of the wood fire. I enjoy the tactile quality and the physical nature of the process.

The vessel as human form remains an important theme. Currently my focus has been on the clay’ surface, the naked, raw texture of the clay body. It is my hope that this collection of work demonstrates the union of form and surface, enhanced with the variable layering of smoke /fire and oxides.
