Having experimented with a variety of art forms including drawing, sculpture theatre and film she took her first course in pottery several years after graduating from Concordia University with a B.A. in Film Animation. I knew right away that I would stay in clay. Clay has the dynamism of film with a tactile nature that I found lacking in other mediums.
Sheri has focused on tableware but is increasingly drawn toward a more sculptural aesthetic. The large platters are functional but they would not look out of place mounted on a wall or mantel piece. The high fire glazes produce the effect of a molten coat of coloured glass wrapped around the snow-white porcelain.
I am always thrilled when we open the kiln and all the treasures are first revealed. I want to share that experience with people who appreciate art.
