Jill Poole Printmaker

Jill Poole is a professional artist and printmaker living and working in Hampshire in the South of England.

Jill studied at the University of Portsmouth gaining a first class honours degree in Illustration. She is now concentrating on making art for exhibitions, freelance illustrations and designs aimed at the contemporary interior space. She has held workshops at the University and also offers a complete workshop package to schools and colleges.

Jill's work holds a strong emphasis towards nature. She uses a combination of printing techniques and collage, using recycled and organic material. The works vary in scale and are printed on paper from managed sources, using soya and water-based inks. Her designs not only reflect nature, but also consider the environment.

"The work always begins with a narrative developed through research and image making, using drawings, collage, photographs, and collected items. I have already gone through a process of detailed imagining. I've worked out the layers and colours scheme in my mind before I go into the studio. The desired look is one of a calming influence, using soft, muted tones, aiming to create a sense of tranquility"
