Crystal Nykoluk Potter

I am very inspired by the qualities of clay. It is a very influential material in that you can make it do whatever you want. It can hold texture and can be pushed into many shapes. It is a material that allows you to work in the third dimension. I try to capitalize on these qualities. All my work involves texture and I am constantly looking for surfaces to impress upon the clay to create these different textures. I enjoy pushing out these surfaces to see how they change and stretch. Clay is very tactile and I like to infuse this idea with the finished product. I want people to be curious about how the piece will feel if you were to reach out and touch it. It is an expression of my joy.
