Christy Donald Printmaker

Christy Donald was born and educated in Winnipeg, receiving her Fine Arts Degree with a major in Graphic Design from the University of Manitoba. Christy discovered printmaking in her final year of Fine Arts and has been hooked ever since.

Following graduation she spent a year teaching in Japan, an experience that would later prove to be the inspiration for many of her prints. Upon her return to Manitoba, Christy worked as a graphic designer while completing her Bachelor of Education specializing in Visual Arts. Today, as an art teacher, Christy shares her passion for art with her students.

“There is a meditative quality to the process of printmaking that I find both cathartic and energizing. My work tends to be inspired by experiences, memories and moments. Traveling overseas and observing the colours, textures and patterns in other places and cultures has had a huge influence on my art making.”
