Artist Statement

David MacNair has a fondness for painting plein air. He thrives to capture the light of a single day to reflect the intensity of a chosen place. The intent is to have the painting vibrate like a snapshot, which then becomes a clear memory of the space.

The ever present trees underscore the artists sensitivity to their texture, which is their form of expressing their relationships.

His way of composing the trees tells us how much David MacNair counts on his favorite companions to reach his highest pleasure as a painter: Being part of the space. In a word:dreaming.

David's love for nature began with his years as a boy scout and today carries him with brushes, canvass, oil paints and canoe into the Canadian Shield, primarily Nopiming Provincial Park, Manitoba

The intent is to have the painting vibrate like a snapshot, which then becomes a clear memory of the space.
