All the raw willow and dogwood she uses in her work is cut and gathered by hand, in the winter, when there is very little moisture between the wood and bark.

Cheryl walks into frozen swamp and forested areas, following deer trails, to harvest the various types, always trimming and leaving the tender top branches for the deer to continue to feed on.

No tree is ever destroyed by the cutting, rather, new vigorous growth is promoted. The wood is then bundled and dries, one year for every half inch in diameter, so that all it's shrinking and subtle turning is complete before being incorporated into a new design.

Cheryl's original chairs, tables, and lamps are completed with a hand rubbed tung oil finish. Many pieces evolve into dynamic contemporary, one of a kind, upholstered indoor functional furniture.
